Even if you don't want to continue your sport after high school, you have skills, called non-industry specific or transferable skills, that employers and recruiters value highly. 

Athletes can include on resumes and applications the time they were part of a team, leadership positions, coaching or refereeing experience, academic awards, or athletic awards.

 

Athletes can talk or write about how the skills they learned as an athlete apply to the job, college, major, or field they are applying to and boost their applications and resumes.
